Projects & Initiatives
Making a difference in Pittsford Central School District
Current Projects & Initiatives
Our latest initiative is to support the mental health of students in the Pittsford School district
Mental Health Initiative
Mental Health includes our emotional, psychological, and social well-being. It affects how we think, feel, and act. It also helps determine how we handle stress, relate to others, and make choices. One of the many negative impacts of COVID -19 has been its impact on mental health among our students. Our students have been much more isolated given the pandemic, significantly increasing mental health needs.
Donations will be used to support our students in the following ways:
Provide supports through licensed mental health experts through targeted counseling when students are not in school (breaks, summer)
Provide professional development to staff relative to best practices while addressing student mental health needs
Universal benchmarks, surveys, screening tools to provide evidence-based interventions
Support building wide club that focuses on suicide prevention
Technology and supplies to assist with removing the stigma of anxiety; help to understand and manage symptoms and ways reach out for help
We are proud and grateful to share that this effort has raised over $60,000 and has served more than 250 of families in the PCSD
COVID-19 Family Relief Initiative
COVID-19 affects us all, but our most vulnerable neighbors, classmates, and friends will be impacted the most. The Pittsford Education Foundation (PEF) is focused on ensuring all students in the Pittsford Central School District (PCSD) have equitable access to exceptional educational opportunities and we know that no child can learn, if their basic needs are not being met. As the Pittsford Central School District moves to at-home learning, our community must come together to ensure that no family or student falls behind.
In response to this terrible pandemic the Pittsford Education Foundation established a COVID-19 Family Relief Initiative to provide direct support to PCSD families/individuals experiencing severe economic hardships due to COVID-19.
When the community was asked to donate money to the Pittsford Education Foundation during the onset of COVID-19, the response was with overwhelming generosity of more than $60,000. These donations were used to purchase grocery store gift cards that provided meals on a regular basis to so many of our families who were suffering job loss or illness. There was great appreciation and gratitude from the recipients for being part of the Pittsford Community.

Honor An Educator
One of the many ways our Foundation supports the district is through our Honor An Educator program. We provide students and parents with the opportunity to show appreciation for a Pittsford faculty or staff member who’s gone above and beyond their mandate, with the Honor An Educator award.

More Projects Coming Soon…
Don’t see a project you supported in the past? Wondering what else we’re doing? Not to worry, we’re in the process of documenting our previous work as the KEEP Foundation and we’ll post those soon!
Our Focus
Equitable Student Experiences
We provide students in need of financial support with supplies, meals, clothing, glasses, field trips, and other needs, to ensure equal access to the entire Pittsford educational experience. This focus area has never been more important given the challenges many are are facing in the modern era.
Staff Support
One of the most effective ways to improve our schools and make a difference in students’ lives is by providing faculty and staff with tools, training, and support, they need to create an outstanding academic experience in the Pittsford school district.
Facility Improvements
Many of our projects focus on technological or capital improvements. Having access to state-of-the art technology in the classroom or upgrading our schools’ facilities has become an increasingly critical component to preparing our students to compete at the next level.
